Welcome to Forest School Everyday

Bringing the magic of child-led, nature inspired play and learning to everyday family life

After receiving an injury in 2018 which means I’m sadly unable to continue to run regular Forest School sessions as easily as I could previously, I’m excited to weave together my passion for Forest School with my passion for parenting in this exciting new project Forest School Everyday.

I have brought my children up and gone on to home educate in a child-led, responsive way where I look to understand their needs and then support them in aspects of learning and development which arise from their natural interest, play and curiosity.

Alongside this, most days we have explored nature; they’ve jumped in puddles, played in the mud, collected nature treasures and looked after ladybirds as younger children, and we enjoy nature journaling and much nature inspired play, study and exploration as part of their current home education.

During my Forest School training with the amazing and inspirational Lily Horseman from Kindling Play and Training, I began to see many parallels between the child-led Forest School pedagogy and responsive attachment parenting, child-led learning and home education.

Whilst I was busy leading sessions, I kept on noticing these similarities, and how amazing things happen when families spend time together immersed in nature. What’s more I noticed how these benefits of shared curiosity, play, adventure and learning carried over seamlessly into every day family life, bringing fun, learning and many holistic benefits to children of all ages and parents alike.

So my new venture weaves together the threads of Family Life and Forest School, sharing the many ways we can include nature based play, learning and adventure through the seasons into everyday family life and learning. I’ll be sharing what we get up to and many simple ideas to inspire nature based play, craft and learning through my blog and Facebook Page Beautiful Beginnings Forest School Everyday.

I’m also producing a book which brings together in detail the Forest School philosophy, responsive, child-led parenting and the many ways nature provides simple, beautiful inspiration for play, learning and holistic development within the family setting for children of all ages through the seasons of the year.

I hope you’ll join my on this journey of nature family adventures and share stories of your own activities, explorations and learning too.
